Lindsay Adler will be speaking at this year’s New England Camera Club Conference, held annually in Amherst, MA. This year the conference will take place July 11-13 2008.

Lindsay’s presentation will be on “Complete File Management Through Adobe Lightroom”. This includes importing (metadata, file naming, dng), catalog (search options, sorting, organization), gallery view (batch changes, virtual copies, rating systems, stacking), and the basics of develop mode.

Tips for Successful Portraits!

Clothing
Avoid large prints or patterns that will detract from your face
Choose long sleeved shirts or sweaters rather than shortsleeved
Earth tones are often most flattering, especially foroutdoor portraiture
For group portraits, wear simple clothing all with the similar tone and color
If you are considering a large portrait for room decor, consider the color scheme and style of the room when deciding what to wear and which background to select
Avoid extremely deep Vnecks (detracts from face) or bulky cowlneck sweaters that completely hide the neck.

Other Suggestions
Plan to wear your hair in a style that you are comfortable with. Avoid new cuts or styles within close proximity to your session
For Men: Look your best with a fresh shave or trim
For Women: Keep your makeup natural and avoid excessive jewelry

For Babies
Be sure the child is fed and wellrested before the portrait session
Bring a few favorite toys
Bring a change of clothing is case of “accidents”

Tips for the Bride!

Tips for the Bride: Look Great in your Wedding Images! Below is a list of tips for any bride to keep in mind on her wedding day.
These suggestions are easy and are meant for the bride to look her best in her wedding images.

1.Stand Up Straight: Avoid slouching. By stand straight you look thinner and more confident.
2. Relax your shoulders: Avoid hunch your shoulders. You should relax your shoulders, while standing with good posture. You will look more natural and relaxed.
3. Turn your shoulders: at a 45 degree angle to the camera. By turning your body slightly you appear thinner.

4.Avoid double chins: Don’t pull your chin inward toward your neck, but also avoid sticking your chin upward. Instead lower your chin slightly (which accentuates youreyes), but don’t pull it inward.

5. Keep Your Elbows Away from Your Body: If you keep your elbows close to your side you appear to have a wide body. Keep a small separation between your elbows and your side (but do not overuse this suggestion… only a slight separation is necessary)

6.Don’t wrinkle your forehead: When you smile, be sure to relax your forehead to avoid those unwanted and unflattering wrinkles.

7. If you wear glasses: Do not wear photogray lenses and consider putting in non-glare lenses (which cutdown on reflection). If possible, have your lenses adjusted so that they tilt downward slightly or lower your chin slightly to achieve the same effect.

8.Do not hide behind the bouquet: Instead, hold the bouquet lower on your body with your wrists resting upon your hipbones. This not only hides the stomach, but also gives the appearance of a more slender/elongated body.
